| Build Bog BridgesOver Streams and Wet Areas
There are lots of wetlands and ephemeral streams at Mount A. We need to build bridges to get people over these wet areas without damaging habitat and water quality. |
|
Replant Vegetation and Plant Seeds Many slopes on the mountain have been severely eroded. With persistence and good weather, we can re-establish soil and vegetation to these bare spots. We will replant hardy, native shrub and perennial species and spread grass seeds in damaged areas. |
| Remove Invasive Non-Native Plants
Don’t let the aliens invade! We need to maintain constant vigilance to keep invasive plants out of areas we previously removed them from and eradicate new populations as they are discovered. This important work will help protect our rare plant and animal communities, keep our wetlands healthy, and maintain the area’s biodiversity. |

Trails near the summit are available for adoption by anyone who can commit to a day of trail work twice a year. Trail-keepers will clean water bars and drainage dips in the spring and fall to protect trails from erosion. Branches and fallen trees need to be cleared from the trail, too. There will be an orientation and instruction session and then you can do the work when it fits into your schedule. With the help of many volunteers, we have made great strides to clean up Mount A and to promote Leave No Trace principles. However, periodically, we need help to keep the area trash and litter free. This could make a great Earth Day or Scout event.
