Note the DATE CHANGE for this Work Day! This event is no longer taking place on August 6th!
Join us for a Volunteer Community Work Day on Saturday, August 20th from 9:00am-12:30pm.
Volunteers will learn hands-on dimensional lumber construction techniques by spacing apart to replace 38 feet of boardwalk along Cedar Trail. Boardwalks and bridges prevent wet feet, protect trails from erosion, and provide essential search and rescue access. Project location will involve hiking up to 3 miles total. Work will include demolition, moving heavy planking, and installing new decking. Construction area is frequently wet and buggy, so please dress accordingly!
The Mount Agamenticus region consists of more than 10,000 acres of forest, wetlands, ponds and streams. It takes a lot of work to care for this land and we are counting on support from volunteers to help protect this great place. The best way to get involved and make a difference is through the Community Work Days program. There’s lots of work to be done to protect the beauty and the environment of Mount Agamenticus. Come and have some fun and join us!
Please bring your daypack, hiking/work boots, water bottle, insect repellent and work gloves (we have spare gloves if you don’t have any). Tools and equipment will be provided. Light snacks and refreshments follow the event.
Youth volunteers are welcome to attend all Community Work Days, but must be accompanied by parent or guardian for the duration of the event.
Spaces are limited and registration is required. To register, please e-mail our Trails Supervisor.
