“Know before you go” and help keep Mount A’s trails safe and open! Please continue to adhere to CDC physical distancing guidelines and follow all posted signage. Visitors from out of state should familiarize themselves with state guidelines regarding COVID-19, which can be found at Maine.gov. At the time of this post, York County has a high level of COVID-19 community transmission.

As summer comes to a close, we’re entering our busy season at the mountain! September and October are peak season at Mount A. If you are planning to visit this fall, know that parking may likely reach capacity, especially on weekends and holidays. Peak hours are typically between 10:00am and 2:00pm.

Information about foliage can be found at the State of Maine Foliage Report website (outside link opens in a new tab). Mount Agamenticus is in zone “1 South.”

The park and trails are open dawn to dusk.

The summit access road gate is open 7am to sunset starting in October through March.

➤ Parking –

  • Parking at Mount A is LIMITED. Park in designated parking areas only and do not block gates or roadways. Abide by all posted signage.
  • Base, Summit, Ring, and Cedar lots are open. Roadside parking is permitted along the southern side of the paved segment of Mountain Road.
  • Have a back-up plan, and BE PREPARED to turn around and head elsewhere if parking is full.

Places to Go:

All organized groups and any party of 10 or more people visiting Mount A must fill out our Group Registration Form in advance.

➤ Amenities/Facilities –

  • The Conservation Office is typically staffed Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm, but we may be out in the field. Masks are appreciated and highly recommended indoors; we are also happy to come outside to you. If staff is unavailable and you have a question, call the office phone at (207) 361-1102 OR contact us via our website. We will get back to you as soon as possible. DO NOT call the office in an emergency. In an emergency, call 911.
  • The Learning Lodge is operating on a “pop-up” schedule, open through October 24th on MOST Saturdays and Sundays from 12-3pm. Please review the information on our Learning Lodge page before visiting. The lodge interior is otherwise closed to the general public and non-educational private group use.
  • Trail boxes are open and maps are available. You are welcome to take your map with you, or return it to the box to be used by others. Our trail map is still also available online to download or print.
  • Decks and platforms are open; please give others space when approaching and exiting.
  • Bring an alcohol-based hand sanitizer. Trailboxes, picnic tables, port-a-potties and deck/platform handrails are high touch surfaces.
  • There are no indoor restrooms available. Port-a-potties at Base and Summit are open and are cleaned by an outside company twice a week (typically on Mondays and Fridays).

➤ Site Rules –

Help us protect this important resource and each other by abiding by all Park Rules (link opens in new tab) including:

  • Stay on marked trails.
  • Keep dogs ON LEASH at all times.
  • Take all trash out with you, including pet waste.
