“Know before you go” and help keep Mount A’s trails safe and open! Please continue to adhere to CDC physical distancing guidelines and follow all posted signage. Visitors from out of state should familiarize themselves with state guidelines regarding COVID-19, which can be found at Maine.gov.

As winter slowly melts into spring, Mount Agamenticus will continue to be a popular destination for recreation, even before we enter the start of our active season! Parking remains limited and may reach capacity, especially on weekends and holidays. Peak hours are typically between 10:00am and 2:00pm.

The park and trails are open dawn to dusk.

The summit access road gate is open 6am to sunset from April to September.

This time of year, trails are often muddy. Please exercise caution while out on the trails. Related Post: “Three Simple Tips for Mud Season.”

➤ Parking – 

• Parking remains LIMITED. Park in designated parking areas only and do not block gates or roadways.
• Have a back-up plan, and BE PREPARED to turn around and head elsewhere if parking is full.

• Use Maine Trail Finder to find another trail or walking path close to you.
• Visit nearby York Land Trust or
• Great Works Regional Land Trust sites.

All organized groups and any party of 10 or more people visiting Mount A must fill out our Group Registration Form in advance. 

➤ Amenities/Facilities –

• Port-a-potties are available at the summit and Base, and are serviced by an outside company once a week during the start of the season (typically on Mondays). There are NO other restrooms available.
• The summit Learning Lodge remains closed to the public until Memorial Day Weekend.
• The Conservation Office is sporadically staffed until mid-May. Please wear a mask if you plan to come into the office; we are also happy to come outside to you. If staff is unavailable and you have a question, call the office phone at (207) 361-1102 to leave a voicemail OR contact us via our website. We will get back to you as soon as possible. DO NOT call the office in an emergency. In an emergency, call 911.
• Trail boxes are open and maps are available. There are two trail box locations at the summit: one is at the kiosk; the other is at the entrance to the Lodge.
  • Maps are also available online to download or print.
• Decks and platforms are open.
• Running water is NOT available at the summit for handwashing or drinking.

Help us protect this important resource and each other by abiding by all Site Guidelines for Use (link opens in new tab) including:

• Stay on marked and designated trails.
  • If you’ve discovered Mount A through another website like AllTrails, please be sure to double-check your route against our trail map.
• Keep dogs ON LEASH at all times.
• Take all trash out with you, including pet waste.
